About the Artist

Growing up on the East Coast of Florida, Andrea Naylor was exposed to a strong coastal culture rich in art and surfing. Her passion for Public Health led her to join the Peace Corps in her early 20s and move to a remote fishing village in Ghana, West Africa. Post Peace Corps, Andrea returned to the U.S. and moved to the Florida Keys to work at a marine institute where she met the love of her life. She went on to pursue a Masters in Public Health and to live and work abroad in the Dominican Republic, Australia, and most recently Malawi. It was when she was living abroad in Australia that she started a travel blog called Hippie by the Sea where she documented her life as a traveling artist. Andrea currently works full time as an artist and professional film photographer here in Wisconsin and continues to work as a Public Health Advisor.

Andrea's favorite mediums include: acrylic, watercolor, oil pastels, and india ink. Self-taught, she prefers independent study and draws inspiration from traveling and spending a great deal of time outside, which has allowed her to develop a unique style. You can read more about her journey as a traveling artist here. She has exhibited her work in Florida and here in Door County, and she currently sells her work by appointment at her studio and through annual exhibitions. To date Andrea has traveled to over 25 countries and participated in over twenty art exhibitions.

Andrea takes on a limited number of commissioned pieces per year. Please email her if you are interested for more information at DoorCountyPelicanGallery@gmail.com
